Wednesday Walk ~ Be YOU!

Happy Wednesday Friends!

On today’s ‘Wednesday Walk’, I share about the power of being your true, authentic self. Life is all about relationships ~ and sometimes, when we’re uncomfortable or trying to impress someone, we might find ourselves acting in ways that aren’t in alignment with our truest self. I recently had an experience where I made the choice to show up as my true self in a new relationship, even though I was feeling a bit intimidated. Check out my ‘Wednesday Walk’ to learn more about the importance of just being yourself in your relationships with others.

I would love to hear from you. How do you show up as your authentic self in your relationships ? Are there times when you recognize that you’re not fully being yourself, and what do you do to remind yourself of who you really are? Please leave a comment on the blog so we can all learn from you!

All love,

Great post, Jodi! Very important to remember to be yourself. Have a friend who is starting a new job an is really worried about just being herself with people because she is afraid they won’t like her and then she will be in a bad work environment. So she stays guarded and uncomfortable. For me, if I meditate and stay in the present moment my Self just shines through and I am happy and at ease. If I get too caught up in running around and don’t make time to meditate and practice yoga I can see myself becoming more and more non-authentic — the superficial stuff seems to take over. Thanks for the wonderful reminder to just be YOU!

I just am who i am with a very open heart
i am a poetess happy to express my true feelings and then i am free
i believe this also helps others to be their true selves with me
i find by being a childs heart it is easier to be really me
    i listen to my breath
    i read the bible
    i write
    i watch children

I am finding that the more I meditate, practice yoga and just generally slow down that my true authentic self does come through. The hard part is that the self I am today is constantly changing, but in a good way. I find myself thinking back to when I was younger and am finding that the long standing hopes and dreams I’ve had for years are actually coming into my life, and really just because I am really listening to my inner voice and showing up as the person I always dreamed I could be 🙂

This is a topic I am very focused on right now, having just given up my self in a new relationship and been reminded of the consequences! Staying present is something I am committing to – I recommit every day, multiple times a day. Our authentic selves only exist in the present. My hopes and fears about the future are projections of who I might or could be, not who I am. They will only take away my ability to create the person I want to be – because that happens NOW. My sorrows about the past are not who I am today – they are only valuable if I bring them forward and incorporate the learning into who I am NOW. I am loving this work…

YES!! I could see myself going through the same thought process with the dating situation. Yes, I do daily practices such as Yoga, Meditation, Self Reiki and Journaling BUT it is IN the moment where my work lies. I have a great foundation and calmness I feel in my gut more than ever from years of Yoga and the above practices however, when in the rush of things I can be caught off guard and so what I am practicing is to OBSERVE with the BREATH while in my life more and use this observation and breath as a way to respond to all in life. The more I have done this the more I have found I am now stopping and not just reacting but responding from my roots and my center. Definitely a practice.

There is nothing more GLORIOUS than the authentic JODI!! Thank you for the reminder to let our own light shine. Only when I’m true to myself may I do that. One request…Will you please share the musical artists and name of songs you use? Every song touches my heart and leaves me wanting more. Perhaps you can list the sing name at the end of each blog? Thank you kindly, beautiful Jodi!!

Jodi-love the message of authenticity. The place to look? It’s in the heart! Ask yourself-how do I feel, what does my heart tell me? Turn that switch on and you’ll always return to your authentic nature.

You can never lose just being yourself; being from your heart.
Just as a humorous aside, wonder if your date was researching how to do a yoga pose like a whale ?
(I second Jill’s request about the great musical choices on your walks!)

Jodi, I love the way you name your topic each week. The title always draws me in and makes me want to click and watch and hear what you have to say. Very interesting observation and I love how you touched upon dating behavior. Judging from your smile, this was a fun date for you and a fun blog to work on! Thanks for sharing.

When I am in the moment laughing, practicing Qigong and Yoga, connecting with nature, and feeling One with others, I feel an internal glowing smile. This inner smile is the real me. I recognize it from my childhood years. It’s the same me with a few changes on the outside.
    ha ha.

Love and Joy to you, Jodi, and to all…

I love this JoJo!! I feel the secret is loving and accepting who you are, then it’s so easy to be your authentic self!! I know people who I feel do not like themselves and have really low self -esteem and they have the need to impress and not be themselves!! It’s so sad :(( It seems so easy to just be yourself and be true, right!!? not so much for people who are not happy with who they are!! urghh. and if these people would just be themselves!! Can’t wait to see you!!! xoxoxox
