Wednesday Walk ~ Choose Your Friends Wisely!

Happy Wednesday Friends!

On today’s ‘Wednesday Walk with Chants’, I share about the importance of choosing our friends wisely. We have all heard this concept, but sometimes we forget it, simply because we just want to be social and be around people. Well, recently, I learned quickly that that doesn’t always work. After spending time with a specific “friend” I realized that I didn’t feel good about myself or even enjoy the time we spent together. It made me realize, I need to choose consciously about who I want to spend my precious time with.

I’d love to hear from you … have you ever had the opportunity to let someone know that they weren’t a good choice for you? It’s hard, but its worth it. Please leave a comment on the blog so we can all learn from you!

All love,
Jodi

I so love this reminder, Jodi, because being aware of our energy, and how we are affected by other people’s energies, is an important strategy to being our best selves.

I had a dear friend, who to this day, I care about very deeply, who I had to “break up” with a couple of years ago. While I understood her wounds, and had compassion, and loved her regardless of when she’d get frustrated at me because she would get triggered, after a while, I had to pull away. I was going through a tough time, and I had to move into self-preservation mode. While I think about her often, and sometimes even get tempted to reach out to reconnect to see how she’s doing, I resist. In our friendship, there was always this feeling that I was somehow always letting her down in some way, as she had all these expectations for how I should be, and I could never keep up. Nor was it my job.

In the end, I have sadness about this, but by letting go of that heaviness that came along with her friendship, it has opened up the space for new, amazing people to come into my experience. I have such gratitude for her, and her kindness, and the lesson our friendship has taught me about my boundaries and needs.

wise woman you are! thank you for sharing your experience … sometimes, we do get to set boundaries & break up with girl-friends too … simply because it helps us to be our highest selves. challenging yet so rewarding at the same time. i trust these friendships come back to us even more powerfully, when the time is right.

Hello my sweet Jodi! You truly are gifted with putting life experiences into clever messages that are easy to hear and receive. Your experience speaks loudly to me on my journey as a new yoga teacher. After completing YTT and moving to San Diego, I was hungry to teach and actively manifested teaching opportunities. However, I did not have any benchmarks on what my selection criteria would be for locations that I would teach at. So over the past few months, the benchmarks revealed themselves, and the spectrum of teaching environments also came to light. I love your key word of “selection” and how we get to select who and where we spend our time. I feel empowered as a teacher, mother, woman, human for making modifications in my own life of where I spend my time…and setting the example for my son, students, and everyone around me to do the same. I shared your video on facebook in hopes in gives at least one more person that deep sense of solidification it gave me! LOVE LOVE LOVE HUGS HUGS HUGS!

    Dearest Darling Jodi
Thank you for always keeping us in the loop with everything you are doing and empowering us.
Friendship is a beautiful gift to have and with age and experience we tend to understand this even more profoundly. There are some who are just in our lives for a short Period and none the less they have lessons to teach us. I realized that I cannot be friends with People who critique others and complain endlessly about how bad their lives are when they are blessed with so much. I also realized that a true friend has to let go of these souls but all in love. True friends can love you and also be honest with you about everything and not let you be a victim. They can call you out on your ill doings and stand by you when needed.
Much love to you and Namaste
