Wednesday Walk ~ Are You a People Pleaser?

On today’s ‘Wednesday Walk’ on a hot sunny San Francisco day, I share about an amazing clearing conversation I had with someone close to me who often says she is going to do something & then doesn’t do it. When we dug deeper into it she had an major A-HA moment that this actually comes from a place of feeling the need to please people. She realized that she says she will do things in timeframes that might not be realistic, thinking that it will make me or others happy if she promises a fast turn-around … but it makes no one happy, including herself, when she doesn’t follow through! I suggested that she pause, breathe & think about if she can fulfill the commitments she makes, before making them. That way she can keep her integrity in tact by keeping her word & truly please herself. Check out my ‘Wednesday Walk’ video for inspiration on examining the tendency to people-please and recognizing how this might show up for you.

I would love to hear from you. Are there things in your life you’ve said you would do, maybe just to please another, and then you don’t do it? How does that impact you & the people in your life? Please leave a comment on the blog so we can all learn from you!

All love,

jodi

i used to want to be perfect and when i find myself aiming for this today i stop and remember all the harm it caused me in my life in the past so now i am better able to say no or to just not make promises
there is nothing to live up to but to be me and that is not perfect
much easier to live this way! namaste

This one really hit home for me today … it’s one of my biggest challenges lately. On a positive side, I feel so very capable to do so many things, to be able to do what I’m passionate about – that’s just one of the amazing things about getting older. But, there is only so much time, and I very often find myself overextended. Thank you, Jodi, for this wonderful topic today <3

Love this Wednesday walk about Integrity!!….I think being FREE enough to ASK or speak with friends about what we need to keep the friendship “connected and growing” is important. Stay free, tell our truth to ourselves first, and we get whole loving relationships in return. Love and Namaste, Charlotte

Hi loving Jodi. I used to do this, and get overwhelmed with the fact that I wanted to help so many and couldn’t finally help everyone. So many got hurt and I hurt myself too. Now I say I might do it if I can or yes but not today and no I have no time as to be sure and not give a time frame and keep people waiting and wandering. It’s still important to be in service, but not to please. I really learned much from this flaw and am happy to learn more to finally eradicate all negative things.
Much love from me to you
