Why do you teach Next Generation Yoga?
I was looking for a way to combine my three biggest loves: my children, Yoga, and creativity. Next Generation Yoga was the perfect answer. Each class is infused with traditional Yoga poses, creative movement, imagination, and FUN! I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to foster a life-long love of Yoga in my students.
How do you practice yoga off the mat?
By teaching my children to be kind, thoughtful, and empathetic citizens of the world. To always be grateful, follow their hearts AND their heads, trust their instincts, and go into every day with optimism and a positive outlook. Teaching them the right path helps keep me on it as well.
What do you do when are not teaching NGY classes?
Spending time with my family tops the list! I am also a freelance graphic designer, volunteer within my town/community, and my daughter’s school in a variety of ways, and am a counselor for a non-profit breastfeeding support group. For self-care, I practice Yoga and meditation both in studios and at home, and enjoy getting the occasional massage or pedicure as a special treat.
What is your special gift in connecting with children?
Children are smart and appreciate being spoken to as the individualistic little people that they are. I try to reach them on their level and find humor to be a hugely successful way to connect with even the most hesitant kids. Laughter breaks down walls and forms instant connections.
