Why do you teach Next Generation Yoga?
I love NGY lesson plans and the playful, inclusive nature of the activities. I completed my teacher training with Jodi and she was beyond inspirational and encouraging of the NGY Teacher Community.
How do you practice yoga off the mat?
I enjoy several brief moments of meditation throughout the day and make conscious efforts to be grateful. I am mindful of Yoga philosophy, the Yamas and Niyamas, while raising my kids on a daily basis and endeavor to lead them by example.
What do you do when are not teaching NGY classes?
I stay very busy with the activities and responsibilities of 3 kids (ages 9, 7 and almost 2)! Additionally, My passion for yoga extends into many other areas of fitness, including Pilates, and cardiovascular and weight training, which I alternate doing daily. I serve as a member of a philanthropic women’s group in my community, and enjoy time with friends. At home, I will unwind with a glass of wine and a good book or recorded TV show (not reality TV!).
What is your special gift in connecting with children?
Experience! Besides raising my own children, I’ve worked with kids since I began babysitting. After working in a day care facility, I became an elementary school teacher and substitute teacher for K-8th grade. They love to learn and I love to make learning fun for them. Positivity is a wonderful thing to spread around. Anyone can have a bad day once in awhile, but when a child smiles at you, it’s impossible not to smile back!
