Why do you teach Next Generation Yoga?
I teach Next Generation Yoga because I absolutely LOVE working with kids! More and more in schools, they are reducing play and imagination time and increasing the work. I want to show them that learning CAN be fun, and give them an avenue to be creative, playful, and at peace.
How do you practice yoga off the mat?
I am a person who always has a plan, and is always looking two steps ahead. I started a daily meditation practice to help ground me in the present and appreciate it while it is here. I start my day off with a short Yoga sequence, and end it with Yoga and meditation, starting my day with positivity and ending in gratitude.
What do you do when are not teaching NGY classes?
When I am not teaching classes, I can be found tutoring, reading, writing, or exploring my city! I have young siblings, and I adore getting to hang out with them and my family. I enjoy Mexican Food and being active (which counteracts the Mexican Food J), whether it be Yoga, rock climbing, or sailing.
What is your special gift in connecting with children?
The spark in a kid’s eye when they understand something for the first time, or did something they didn’t think that they could do, is the most beautiful sight in the world. My passion for helping children is what drives me. It’s what gets me up early on a Saturday. It’s what keeps me up late at night searching for new ways to challenge and excite the children in class. I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach them!
