Why do you teach Next Generation Yoga?
To help kids learn the benefits of Yoga and how you can use your body to calm your nerves or feeling upset. I also want to show them how they can explore their minds, using their imagination to become something other than a kid!
How do you practice yoga off the mat?
I try to shine light wherever I go, and pay it forward when I can. I try to reinforce positive energy and am an ear to those who need to say things out loud.
What do you do when are not teaching NGY classes?
I am a teacher and manager at Romparoo, a soft place to play, and roll around on the floor with babies and toddlers, playing with balls and bubbles, farm animals, blocks and being silly. On the weekends, I enjoy the outdoors, either going to my parents’ house in the countryside, or up North in the Adirondacks at our lake house where we enjoy the water sitting on the dock, or in our boat and staying active with hikes and kayaking.
What is your special gift in connecting with children?
I try to listen carefully, even when they are not speaking by paying attention to their body signs and let them know I understand what they are saying. I bring myself down to their level, so they feel comfortable with me and I’m also very nourishing.
