Find an NGY Teacher
Certified NGY Teacher for: 2-13 yr. olds
I teach Next Generation Yoga because the NGY style is child-directed, inclusive, community-oriented, non-competitive, educational and most important, fun! I teach NGY classes that are filled with love, messages of peace and laughter. The NGY style allows children to simply be children and engage in play and imagination. I believe more of this way of thinking is needed in todays world and my intention is to create it within the yoga classes that I teach.
How do you practice yoga off the mat?
Yoga is integrated into how I think, speak and interact with the world on a daily basis. I try to approach everything I do from a place of love and mindfulness versus fear and reactivity. I also believe in the importance of seva, or selfless service, through the practice of yoga. As an Africa Yoga Project Ambassador, I organize fundraisers, benefit events and donate my time in other ways for this life-changing organization based in Nairobi, Kenya.
What do you do when are not teaching NGY classes?
I love to travel, spend time with family and friends, immerse in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, lead NGY Teacher Trainings, write lesson plans for the NGY Lesson Plan Club, cook and enjoy yummy food, and of course, roll out my mat for some down dogs.
What is your special gift in connecting with children?
My special gift for connecting with children is my ability to meet them at their physical, emotional, social and cognitive level. My background as an Occupational Therapist has given me a deep understanding of child development and this allows me to create classes where children feel seen, heard and acknowledged. This knowledge has also led me to create specialized classes for children with special needs.
