Wednesday Walk ~ Everything Happens for a Reason

Happy Wednesday Friends!

On today’s ‘Wednesday Walk’, I explain how shifting my perspective has helped me realize that everything happens for a reason. In recent days, I have been looking for a place to sublet for my move to San Francisco. After thinking that I had found the right place (twice!) I was informed that the owner had decided to sublet to someone else. While it was easy for me to become upset and wonder why something like this was happening to me, I stopped and asked myself why it was happening for me.

Please enjoy my video blog to learn how a perspective shift could change your frame of mind.

I would love to hear from you. Have you had an experience where you realized that something you didn’t enjoy actually happened for a reason?  Please leave a comment on the blog so we can all learn from you.

PS ~ I am moving to San Francisco and welcome any suggestions & introductions you have for yoga studios, community centers & schools. I am also looking for a sublet to move into, if you know of one, please let me know … thank you.

All love,
jodi

Hi Jodi, This message is right up my alley! 🙂 Having relocated a couple times now (due to husband’s job), I have experienced some “disappointment” in finding work for myself. I had it all planned out in my head…kids would go to school here….I would work there….well, the school district in which we moved into is wonderful-but also HIGHLY sought after by teachers relocating or moving from other districts. So, for every position, there are hundreds of applicants. After going through a rut where I was feeling so down, a substitute teaching position opened up for me (also very hard to attain here) and it is perfectly suited to our schedule right now. A few months ago we found out that my husband’s company is selling- everything is up in the air. He is working very long hours- out of town nearly every week. Having the flexible substitute schedule, I am able to “hold down the fort” with the kids. Had I gotten the full time position, there would be a huge amount of stress right now. I truly believe God knew that a less stressful, more flexible job was needed for our family this year (even though it’s tight). We have control over our choices and energy, but ultimately everything happens for a reason! And that’s a good thing!

Two things come to mind: 1) I did not get into my first or second choice of college and I was devastated. However, my third choice was no slouch and it turned out that the small liberal arts environment with a non-competitive ethos was the best match for me. No regrets!

    2) On our first house hunt, I fell in love with a few places. One in particular seemed perfect. We did not get it and compromised for a smaller condo that we could easily afford. In the end, when we relocated, it was relatively easy to sell our condo instead of the house we had originally wanted,

    Dear Jodi,
This totally resonates with me! “Things happen to me, or for me” – indeed!
I was diagnosed with melanoma some years ago. For a long while, I questioned why this happened to me. Then, I realised, it happened for me. It was my wake up call to leave corporate life, become a Primordial Meditation Instructor and a spiritual hypnotherapist. It was for me, to search and find my dharma…
I share my journey in my upcoming book, The Turquoise Ripple 🙂
    Namaste!

Thank you Jodi, your spirit helps me in ways you don’t even know! I’ve been going through an experience and wondering WHY this happened to me. Your words and encouragement to shift to thinking why this has happened FOR me changes everything! In Turkish, we say “yavas yavas” slowly slowly love and life brings us to our true selves. <3

Jodi, I didn’t get hired to teach yoga at a studio that I “thought” I wanted to work for. I now understand that the universe had something else in store for me, to grow and inspire others from my own small business of teaching yoga to adults and kids at my school. It consequently would allow me to still teach, but with more flexibility to teach around my schedule with my family, which is so important to me.

I didn’t know this at first, and felt like maybe I wasn’t a good teacher, and that’s why I wasn’t hired. Now I know that there was another plan for me. I know that I can put myself out there more, creating my ideas into a reality, and sharing this love and appreciation that I have for yoga. It has allowed me to heal, grow, take risks, and blossom.

Thank you for providing this opportunity for me to write down my thoughts and share. I have thought about this many times and never affirmed it by sharing it or writing it down.

I LOVE the perception idea, this is what the universe provided FOR me instead of TO me!!!
Even when I am busy on Wed., I try to stop and listen to your Wed. walks, they make me stop, think, reflect, write down and move on!

Love you Jodi, good luck in finding a place! We will miss your presence in San Diego!!
