Wednesday Walk ~ It’s OK To Ask For Help

Happy Wednesday Friends!

On today’s ‘Wednesday Walk’, I discuss a very important lesson I learned … it’s OK to ask for help! I am currently experiencing many shifts in my life, from the passing of my dog Chants to moving. When I realized what I needed, I took a risk, asked my friends for help and I was greeted with a great surprise ~ people wanted to help!

Many of us have had experiences in our lives that have taught us that we have to do things on our own, that we should be strong, and not ask for help because it shows weakness. Lately, I’ve learned that asking for help is not only beneficial to me, but to those who are helping me. Please enjoy my video blog where I discuss this in more detail.

I would love to hear from you. How do you feel about asking for help? Have you had an experience where you learned that it is ok to ask for help? Please leave a comment on the blog so we can all learn from you

All love,
jodi

It is Ok to ask for help
‘people who need people are the luckiest people in the world’~
    change is inevitable
a move, having a baby , the passing of someone close~anything that puts us in a vulnerable place and then~
    we become
    strong!

Your video’s alway come at the right moment in time. I myself never ask for help but myself and my son are going through big changes. My husband is not longer with myself and my son and has moved on. I have had to ask a friend to help drive us down to food bank because we had no food. But instead of my friend driving me down she dropped off alot of food on our step and some complete strangers have also done the same. I have also asked my dad to help me get to an appointment and this is the first time asking him for anything. I had to put aside my feelings of shame and just reach out in this hour. My one friend told me she said that I am alway the first there to assist others and she feels good that I asked her for help. I do alot of prayer before meditation and putting out request for help. I will continue to do this. Thanks for the blog Jodi love and light 🙂

This is definitely something that I struggle with because I don’t want to be a burden on anyone. But you are exactly right when you say that people genuinely WANT to help. I know that if someone asks for my help, I am more than happy to do it…like you said, it makes us feel needed and feel good about ourselves when we help others, so why not give our loved ones the same opportunity to help us? Beautiful spoken and very inspiring. Thank you, Jodi. Namaste.

so glad this resonated with you amy ~ thanks for sharing your personal experiences with asking for help. only till we ask will we realize that it is OK to do so. i find it a practice … the more i ask for help, the more people are willing to say YES.
like you said ~ GIVE LOVE!

I am so blessed to have a partner (almost a year now) that always asks how he can help, what he can do for me. It is still uncomfortable for me as I’m used to doing it all. There is also fear around allowing the help because with that I have to trust that if again required to do it all myself, I can handle it again. If that makes sense?
Conditioning is a powerful force! let’s kick it’s butt!

Asking for help has always felt awkward for me unless I am asking my close family members. I think I am just afraid people will say no and that it will be hurtful. It is so true that I love to be asked for help because it makes me feel useful and happy to have an opportunity to show that I care about someone. Anyway, something to think about — why am I denying someone else the opportunity to feel good about helping me? Just fear of getting hurt? Where does that come from? Thanks Jodi for making me think and hopefully evolve in the process!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this video today Jodi! So perfectly timed for me as I enter my third trimester of pregnancy and am finding that there are some things I really need help with that I cannot do by myself anymore. Living in a different country than all of my family members makes it even more difficult. Being independent is great and all but sometimes i am so focused in that direction that I forget I can even ask. This was exactly what I needed to hear.
