Wednesday Walk ~ Solitude is a Positive Place to Be :)

Today my Wednesday Walk takes place on a tranquil beach in Koh Samui, Thailand. After 2 weeks of teaching and enjoying the company of many people everyday, I am now embracing a solo vacation. In solitude, I am able to tune into myself, be in my own flow, and really take care of my own needs. for me, this is very much needed.

I recently came across this great article by Dr. Annette Colby which I totally resonate with. Here are the top 5 reasons we should spend time alone:

1) Time to Rediscover Self & Reevaluate Priorities

2) Bring Back Your Lust for Life

3) Time to Breathe & Release Stress Levels

4) Be With Your Own Feelings

5) Be Independent

It has been an interesting adventure spending so much time alone & I especially enjoy the reaction when others find out that I am traveling solo. Please enjoy this week’s video blog on why solitude is important in my life.

Please do leave a comment below, sharing some of the ways you enjoy spending time alone, or if being alone is challenging for you, I’d love to know why that is.

Love,

jodi

I love doing everything by myself! Being happy when solo, means you are able to invite only the best people for YOU into every activity! Then it’s just double the fun when you CAN share experiences!
    Go, Jodi!

    Hi Jodi!
I love to travel alone because I spend time listening to the stories of new people that I meet rather than telling the story of how I met someone, etc. Eating what you want, sleeping what you want, seeing what you want, etc. it also a benefit. There is also more “quiet” time that you can spend enjoying nature rather than talking : ) You are very lucky to be where you are. enjoy.

Jody, how exciting to be in Thailand and relaxing.I am on my way to Italy to visit three different family members and look forward to the adventures of each location. As a single woman, sometimes I struggle with too much alone time. As a first grade teacher I crave alone time everyday at the end of the day, time to separate from the demanding day. I love taking myself out to a nice restaurant and ordering a good glass of wine and a fine meal. I need a balance of alone time and together time! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Hi Jodi, it’s awesome seeing what you are doing and hearing from you. I truly believe that it is important to have alone time and to recharge. Being a full time mom and wife allows me to say stop, I need to be alone and to recharge to reflect on many things and spring back with energy and more love. It’s essential even for Arnaud to do the same. Our relationship becomes stronger too. Enjoy your time for you and BE. YOU are a wonderful woman leader and friend;)

I love this message, Jodi! Lately I’ve been running myself around all over SD teaching yoga, and doing school, as well as much intensive inner work. When I finished my exam last Tues, I said, “that’s it! It’s time for me to do what I want and need to do for me!” So here in SD, I’ve been sleeping in, reading, being with friends, relaxing around the house with my cats, studying a litle Italian, and doing whatever I want…around my yoga classes, that is. It feels so good! Sometimes it seems like people don’t always understand this need to BE ALONE. It’s wonderful though!
