Wednesday Walk ~ Feel Your Feelings

Happy Wednesday Friends!

On today’s ‘Wednesday Walk’, I share about how I recently took a workshop that brought up feelings of pain and discomfort. Instead of suppressing these feelings, I have been sitting with them and really allowing myself to be okay with what I’m feeling. No matter how uncomfortable or challenging some feelings can be, it’s so important to acknowledge them instead of pushing them away. Check out my ‘Wednesday Walk’ to learn more about how important it is to feel our feelings so that healing can happen.

I would love to hear from you. How do you deal with your feelings when they come up? Do you push them away, or do you sit with them and allow them to happen? Please leave a comment on the blog so we can all learn from you!

All love,

jodi

I am so sorry that you have to deal with stuff like shame–you, who give so much! Please take a long walk. In answer to your question–I really try in meditation to leave everything on the mat. However, while on the mat, I allow my feelings to be experienced fully. I use the power of meditation to analyze my feelings, to help me- as Davidji says, to have a pattern interrupt, to examine deeply the interconnection between what I am feeling and what is real. Then I merge into the light and let it go there, so I am not carrying the baggage. As Buddha says, all life is suffering. However you look great!

Girlfriend…this totally hit home for me today! A question was posed to me last week that I have been working out the answer in my journal, spending quality time on it everyday. Yesterday, I summarized all my thoughts into a short-sweet-simple answer…which then stirred up a whole storm of thoughts, feelings, and even more questions for myself. The excitement of answering one question led to anxiety of so many new questions. I literally wrote a note to myself in my journal…”ALLOW each and every thought, feeling, and question to BE!” So that is where I am today…practicing the art of “allowing” instead of trying to find all the answers. Your video is giving me a sense of calmness in the midst of my cray-cray-athon! LOL!

So in love with you, your wisdom, your gifts!

I’m learning more and more how to deal with my feelings … through counseling I’m learning to honor them, take care of them like a mother with a child, and to move through them. That’s the healthy way I know to deal with them. Sometimes, though, when for whatever reason I am unable to deal with them that way, I tend to ‘eat’ my way through them. Trying to understand that I’m not always going to make the most beneficial choices in how I deal with feelings is also part of nurturing myself … of dealing with those feelings ?

Yesterday was the first time that I got acupuncture and I didn’t rush off to a social event afterwards. I came home, lit candles, journaled and went to sleep early, which was what my body really wanted. In that calmer state I thought of trying something out to address a physical symptom I’ve been dealing with, and today, whatdoyouknow, it feels better.
Breathing deeply in the midst of the day and taking walks, spending time outdoors are some ways I take little time outs in the midst of my busy day to feel what I’m feeling, getting into my body a little more, when I don’t have the time to get acupuncture and go to sleep early as I did last night. Even being aware of my posture and trying to center my feet on the ground as I’m sitting at a computer helps preserve my sense of wellbeing and connect with myself/my feelings.
Thanks for continuing to film the Wednesday walks while also pursuing your other interests and goals! They bring so much to my life!
