Say Hello to September’s Featured Trainer:
Read on for a Q&A with Ana!
Ana Mateljan, MBA
Next Generation Yoga Trainer for 2-7 yr. olds
San Diego, CA
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
A: I was a girl scout in Mexico when I was growing up. I really enjoyed the outdoors, camping, putting up a tent and spending time with my friends in the woods. My most favorite part of the day was making dinner on the fire pit, baking bread on top of logs and constellation watching very late at night!
Q: What was your first experience with Next Generation Yoga?
A: My first experience was at the 2-7 yr. old training at Peace Love and Yoga studio in Carlsbad CA and I loved it. I initially wanted to take the training to share Yoga with my two little girls. One thing led to another and then I started my own NGY Kids Yoga classes at studios, after school programs, summer camps, at home, parks and many more, it has been an incredible journey!
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: Architect, Astronaut or Doctor… and in the end I turned out to do something completely different from all of those. I’m an International Business Major with an MBA. In hindsight, I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone wanting to or currently teaching Yoga to Kids?
A: Have fun creating your classes and teaching them. The energy we transmit to the children during class is key to our success. Enjoy it all, the planning, the teaching, the conversations with the kids, their ideas, their sing-songs and especially enjoy them!
